Immunotherapy uncovered #1

As I have mentioned before, I’ve been on immunotherapy since day one alongside chemo. Now it’s just the chemo that’s off the menu and sticking to immuno (let’s see if I can make this shortened word a thing!)😄

Therefore, on my first “just immuno” day, I arrived at the hospital confidently and sat in my usual chair and got all the needles and tubes set up and went with the flow of the drips. And within 3 hours I was done! Big difference to the previous 6, sometimes 7 or 8, hours. And I was reaaaaly sleepy. So, naturally, at home I passed out😴

And then I woke up to elephant legs and sausage toes. I was all swelled up from my knees down. Thankfully, there was no pain or discomfort and I could walk fine. I actually didn’t really notice until I looked down to see why it was difficult to put my shoes on (socks are anyway difficult, but that is because of my numb neuropathic fingers😑). They swelled down in two days, but I did get concerned for the next immunos.

For the second round, the nurse set me up, brought me a blanket and said she’d be back when the machine beeped so we could go for the next bag. My eyes got droopy, I put my book aside, closed my eyes for a second and then the machine beeped.

-Already the next bag? I asked.

-Honey, I’m about to pull the needle out. You can go home.

-…?😐

-You slept through the whole thing.

Yes, checking the clock confirmed that, that second I had my eyes closed, was, apparently, three hours. I guess I was knocked out with the first drip😅

And that was it for this round. Just sleepy and groggy. No other side effects!🥳
The sleepiness however lasted for a couple of days. I would close my eyes for a second and then, magic! It would be a few hours later, I would wonder where the heck I am and I had forgotten what year it is🤤

It has been a bit of a challenge during those couple of days after immuno to have any sort of schedule or discipline, but after that my energy goes up. And that is a very welcome change😁

Pics of my swollen immuno ankles. Ignore the mess, I’ve been sleeping, just woke up and I don’t know whose house this is😏
