Scan fun ride experience #6

Brain scan! 🧠

Saved the best for last😋

This scan happens with the noisy MRI machine (sad cheer), but at least it’s only your head that gets shoved in. But it’s not that simple…😒

My head got placed in a special cage to lock it in place. Think of a hockey helmet, but more square shaped, with little velcro straps here and there to smack your forehead and chin in place. And for mental comfort: a thin tilted mirror in front of your eyes so you can have the illusion of looking at a distance and not get claustrophobic (a view of your feet that is – which in my case isn’t much of a distance to begin with🥲).

And then I was zoomed in the machine and the radio played and I got ready to try and match the clanging and banging to the tempo of whichever song would come on.

And here, ladies and gentlemen, is where irony decided to show its gorgeous face to me. The song that started playing was “Die young” by Sheppard. For those of you not familiar with the lyrics, here is a sample:

“Cause even if we die young

They will remember us

Even if we die young

We had a damn good run”

And it repeats that… a lot😐

Now, as you may have realised if you’ve been reading my posts so far, my dark humor and sarcasm have been leading the way during this whole journey. I am pretty sure that THIS was the moment I let them take over, mostly because I realised that, cancer or no cancer, I will die sooner if I take things too seriously🤪

4 out of 5 stars:

1 for humor🤭

1 for sarcasm😏

1 for the scan coming back clear🥳

1 because we finally have proof that I do in fact have a brain!😅

(Whether it is working as it should, is a different matter all together)

No pic of me with my cage helmet, but since it’s Breast Cancer Awareness month and we’re close to Halloween, this is my boo sheet t-shirt🥰👻🎃
