The first CT scan after stopping chemo 3 months ago happened last week and the results are great!✨️
The tumour has remained at 6mm and hasn’t gotten bigger or spread anywhere else, which means the treatment of no chemo and just immuno is working💪
And I am breathing again😅 And I want to say I’m on to my euphoric days, however, it seems that I was brewing a cold, so now I’m sitting on the couch like a drunk with a stuffy nose and a cough.
But I’m smiling. Between coughs, I am smiling😊
And today is world cancer day and while I’m tempted to ask you all for money so I can get myself pretty things, I’ll ask the following:
a)Get acquainted with your body: keep an eye on that freckle, feel up those boobs and just be sure that that tummy ache that doesn’t seem to go away is indeed your love for spicy food you cannot handle and not something else. Pinch and poke around. Let the hypochondriac in you take over now and then🫣
b)Donate to a cancer foundation. Even if it’s just one euro/pound/dollar/whatever currency, every penny counts and it has made a difference: most cancers today, while not curable yet, ARE treatable. And that is already a big step. It means one can continue living. It is moving away from the “death sentence” category. That’s something that was pointed out to me: just because I will never be cured, doesn’t mean I’m dying. It means I’m going to live with it. But I will live❤️
c)Talk about it and understand it. Let’s educate ourselves and get rid of the stupid taboo around it. Ask the questions to your cancer thriver and survivor friends and family members (check they’re comfortable first). Google my (and any other) weird rare cancer (just don’t look at the survival rate, because it will damper your weekend and they are outdated statistics). Google “what exactly IS cancer” (long live Wikipedia for dummies). Don’t turn it into an “it-that-must-not-be-named” situation. It ain’t Voldemort. Talk about it. Defeat the fear around it! ✊️
And stay warm and don’t catch a cold as I have. Cause I’m a smiling grumpy coughing lump right now. But I’m smiling😆
My hospital was giving out roses for cancer day, and along with my good news, it brightened my day 🌹
