Starting off with the MRI!
-MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging and is a machine that resembles, in my opinion, a thick claustrophobic tunnel and you’re the lucky one that gets in it… It can be tight, depending on how deep you go (“that’s what she said” – there, got it out of my system🤭).
Now, depending on which part of you they want to check, you lie a certain way on the bed that slides in. My needed imaging the first time (for this particular shit show that is) was *drumroll* my BOOBIES! So, I had to lie flat on my belly, while my two larger than life breasts were each put through their own individual hole, to hang ungracefully for a good 30-45 minutes, while the machine made noises that reminded me of the old ferries in Greece groaning while trying to open their platform for cars to get out, failing, and then having an amateur try to released the chain with a hammer🔨
They do put the radio on, to tune it out, but it wouldn’t match the tempo of the songs. This made me eye roll constantly, which was the only movement I could make, since you have to sit really still. One tiny move and you have to start all over again… 🙄
The imaging of the MRI helps with making tumors glow and this is how we caught mine. My tumors were glowing proudly and made it unmistakable to miss.

1.Thanks to this scan we spotted my cancer that didn’t show up on the mammogram or ultrasound, because it was in the lymph nodes in the chest wall and armpit. And therefore we have prolonged my life a lot, if not saved it!💪
2.Because the image of my hanging boobs (which I got to see, since that was the famous day the radiologist called me back within 5 minutes, to perform the biopsies and break the awesome news to me -sarcastic tone-) resembled nothing less than long rabbit ears and amongst the tears and the sobs of that day, Martien and I were able to giggle in our despair 🥲😅
