Another fun form of entertainment in order to get diagnosed with cancer and then to determine the metastasis (a.k.a. spread) of said cancer and then between them exciting chemo rounds, are none other than the scans🩺

You get a lot to choose from: CT, PET, MRI, bone scan, brain scan, heart scan and more. I’ve tried all the ones mentioned above, some more than once, as I got free passes to go for the rides from the oncologists, surgeons and radiologists🎢

For all of them, I need to always be injected with a solution that lights up the respective bits that they aim to see each time on the images 💡

If you read my previous post ‘Chemo uncovered #7‘, regarding my invisible veins when they try to do a blood test, you can imagine the amusement while they try to find one to put radioactive stuff in. I can feel the veins recoiling like octopus arms while I watch the person search frantically and end up putting the needle in my hand👎

But back to the scans!

You get the twisting stomach jump, but it lasts a week usually, also known as scanxiety week which is the time between the scan and the time you speak with your oncologist to get the results. In the beginning that one had me suffering and being on edge, but once I started chemo and the show was on the road, I had more confidence and felt more certain in my positivity. Also, I decided that there was nothing much I could do and that I wouldn’t allow cancer to steal another week, day, hour or minute of my life💪

Anyway, I’ll review them for you, so you know what to expect should you ever visit the fun park hospital for a scan ride.
