Let’s talk hair! 💇🏻‍♀️

Like most people who start their chemo journey, I have also been taking pictures of my hair phases. The beginning, the before, the buzz cut, then the bald patches, the fuzz and now the growth bit🤗

And I really would like to talk to someone regarding my new app idea. There are apps where people count their weight loss or weight gain in fruit and vegetables: “I dropped a cabbage” ” I gained a satsuma” “feeling like a stuffed potato”🙃 And when I was pregnant, I had this app that would update me on the fruit, vegetable and even legume size of my baby: “this week it’s a kidney bean” “this week it’s an apple” and then inevitably you would level up to watermelon and have a well-excused freak-out 😳

Well, I think we folk that have endured chemo need an app like this for our hair 😁 Wait, hear me out! So far, this is my progress:

Of course, you’re a “bald egg” first. And then a “peach fuzz” and after that a “kiwi fuzz”. Next level: a “hairy coconut”. Not sure what the level after that is, since I can’t think of a more fuzzy or hairy fruit, but please share if you know of any. I’ll do my research as well! Also, let me know if you are willing to discuss this app idea and bring it to life! 🤭

Back to my hair though, yes, it’s growing and yes, I have to admit I’m excited. Mostly because my head is cold🥶 But also a wee bit because when I would catch a glimpse in a mirror of my bald head I would face the reality of cancer being part of me. Past and present. Although the difficult part is over now. I know that for sure💪

But it also reassures me that my body is still strong and still fighting and is still healing. And it’s doing it very well😎 Which makes me very proud of it❤️

And it knows what it’s doing: the hair on my head is growing super fast, while the hair on my legs is so far nowhere to be seen 🥳
