*Screams in Mirabel voice*
Neuropathy is the worst!
(Note: if you do not know who Mirabel is, stop everything you are doing and watch Encanto NOW!)
The chemo side effects I have had, have been eventful to say the least: I have flamed up RED like BBQ meat (see chemo uncovered post number #4), I have turned YELLOW like a minion (chemo uncovered #6) and I’ve gone GREEN being so sick with ORANGE stuff coming out of me (chemo uncovered #8). Sorry for the last image, but that’s the reality of cancer treatment… it’s colourful, but it ain’t pretty🤪
Going back to colours, it seems I am going for all the colours of the rainbow… 🌈
My fingernails were getting a line with each chemo round and slowly started changing colour and getting weird patches of a BLUE, INDIGO and VIOLET shade.
I was hoping for a prize since I achieved this, but I am stuck with these ugly, painful, useless, Tim Burton-inspired fingertips and fingernails…
To give you an idea: at first, they were numb. I could light them on fire and wonder what that burning smell is🔥 Then the tingling came, which at first was more of a “I can feel them!!!” with tears of joy and now it’s turned to a “I can feel them!!!” with tears of agony while screaming over the rooftops😫
Basically, when you sit crosslegged and your legs go numb and then you wait for the blood to rush through, there is that painful moment when it rushes too fast and it stings. But it’s over in seconds (usually). When recovering from chemo, this process takes a few months😑
The stinging part is the worst! *again in Mirabel’s tone*
And as I’m ranting and trying to feed myself like a clumsy oaf, the food hits my mouth and I remember that my taste buds are still out of whack and I start anew:
Having no taste is the worst! *yes, a la Mirabel voice*

P.s. educational note: the term for loss of taste is “Ageusia”, pronounced “Agefsia” and yes it is a Greek word of course. I didn’t use it in my rant sentence because “Ageusia is the worst!” doesn’t vibe Mirabel wise😌
