Chemo uncovered #14

What is cancer exactly? Normally the cells in our body, when they get old or are damaged, they die. Sometimes though, they don’t and they turn into abnormal cells and they multiply uncontrollably. And that’s how tumours are made. From chaos in our own bodies🤕

Throughout my chemo, I read articles and papers just to get a small idea of what is going on with me and every time I concluded: “this is why I didn’t become a doctor”🩺

But I also read posts and experiences of people who have been or are going through treatment for breast cancer, and came across the following: “my boob tried to kill me”, “my boobs failed me” etc. You get the idea. And even I, in one of my very first posts, called my right breast the “doom boob” and “traitor”.

But recently I decided to take a different perspective🤓

My organism malfunctioned for some reason. I could go insane over what the cause was: stress, depression, bad eating or lack of exercise… it’s not genetics cause they tested me for that and it was negative. I won’t dwell on it, because there is no point. I know it’s not my fault and that is important. Getting cancer is never anyone’s fault❤️

But with the malfunction came the warning. My right boob alerted me that something was wrong. It got me worried, I got checked and I got there in time before it spread to other organs. In a way, it saved me. It didn’t betray me and it did all it could to save me from doom💪
So here is to my right boob, that changed colour and texture of the nipple and areola overnight. It looks all wrong now and definitely not like the boob I once knew, but I’m honouring its sacrifice. And thankful that even though my body had a glitch, it still was watchful👀
Know your body and listen to it. Same way it tells you it’s hungry or needs the loo, it also pops up that “error 404” message. We don’t give our bodies enough credit. And we really should. They put up with us in ways that nobody and nothing ever will. So just show them some love and be nice to them🥰

Ignore the stern look in the pic, I was sleepy. But I’m not wearing a bra, so no boob prison. Treating my boobs! So simple! 😁😉 Also, I couldn’t really post a pic of my boobs…😋
